Achtergrondinformatie over Marma Therapie/Background information about Marma Therapy:
Marma Therapy is the art of treating very special vital points on the human body, rechannelise the Prana (Vital force in the body), and is one of the greatest healing secrets of Ayurveda. The original texts on marmalogy are available in ancient texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas and Ayurveda Samhitas (Ancient Indian System of Medicine literatures) including the Sushruta Samhita, Ashtang Hridaya, Ashtang Samgrah, Charak Samhita etc, and in Tamil and Malayalam languages, in the form of both palm leaf and paper manuscripts which are thousands of years old.

The basis of Marma Science is 107 vital points in the body, which are located in anatomically defined sites viz. nerves, nerve roots, bones, muscles, ligaments, vessels and internal organs well described by Acharya Sushruta. Marma Points are also junctions where Vata, Pitta and Kapha elements meet. Each Marma has its own width, height, depth and nature and can be measured and located through measurement of one’s own body parts. It is also inherent in various spontaneous human postures that we adopt in day to day life.
It can be used to detoxify the body, to strengthen and revitalize, for rejuvenation and relaxation, and to release blocked energy. Through these energy points we can stimulate the function of internal organs, strengthen self-healing power, and harmonize mind and body. It is used for treatment of various disorders as single therapy or adjunct with other medications and as curative/palliative therapy. Some among them are Spondylosis, Sciatica, Backache, Painful knee diseases, Spinal/vertebral diseases, Prolapses inter-vertebral disc/slipped disc, Traumatic nerve lesions, Vascular, Skeletal lesions, Arthritis, Osteo arthritis, Cerebral palsy, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Some Eye and ear nerve problems, Facial paralysis, Migraine.

Unique features and Advantages of Marma Chikitsa are:
• Low cost of treatment
• Medicine-less treatment possible
• Non invasive technique
• Can also be used in conjunction with other medical treatments – Allopathy, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Homoeopathy, etc.
• Almost no adverse effects or side effects when done properly
• Rapid Action, less time consuming and easy to use

The aim of the Marma Therapy Workshop is to spread the knowledge of this highly effective Marma therapy for common public in such a manner that each individual can understand and practise this therapy on his/her own, to alleviate the sufferings and bring good health and smile for every human being. It is also vital aim to train interested health care professionals and other interested individuals to practise and incorporate this holistic and ancient Indian art of healing in their common practise so that the benefits reaches maximum number of people who need it. However it is advisable to do it under trained eyes for the beginners to avoid the complications if any.
